Master bookbinder and Vail resident Helmut Fricker will demonstrate the restoration and binding of books using traditional methods developed more than 500 years ago. Fricker, a professional book binder for more than 50 years, will demonstrate hand-binding, cleaning techniques for covers and pages and the process of inlaying gold leaf, plus advise attendees on the storage of old and rare books. This fascinating demonstration will be of interest to anyone wanting to see how books are restored or those wishing to custom bind their own special books such as wedding albums and guest books.
